The Goddess is not just some far away concept inside of mythological texts or uncovered in ancient tombs or dug up in archaeological sites or woven on the tapestries of temples in distant lands.
She is not just the thousands of names that have been given to Her within myriad cultures across time and space.
She is not just some “New Age” idea of awakening we see happening among women today.
And She certainly is not just the pretty, soft, and pleasing image of femininity that many of us have been conditioned to judge ourselves against.
She is the blossom that cracks up through the pavement on a city street. She is the deep hum of the jungle and the wind that caresses your face. She is the tsunami, the volcano, the earthquake, the storm of fierce compassion when balance is in disarray.
She is the butterflies in your belly and the roar when you scream. She is the fear of the void and the void itself, drawing you deeper into your own endings and new beginnings. She is the forgiving sunset and the hopeful sunrise that remind you why you’re even here anyway.
Your direct connection to Her is simply a matter of how aware you are of Her presence in every single moment of your existence. In everything you see and in everything that you are. In the scary ugly messy parts as equally as in the rich yummy pleasing parts.
This takes fierce courage and radical love! It requires dissolving old belief systems rooted in duality, of good and evil, right and wrong, by choosing to look every experience in the eye and see divinity. Beginning with your own.
Forgiving every aspect of your past you ever blamed or shamed yourself for and allowing your own unending essence of Shakti, of life, to breathe uninhibited again. Trusting the way that She wants to express Herself through you, as you, whether that be with the rage of a hurricane or with the tenderness of a dove.
At times the Goddess is beautiful and drippy and delightful like Lakshmi or Aphrodite. But other times She is fierce and intense and confronting like Durga or Athena, demanding greater integrity and restoration of the sacred.
And sometimes She is downright terrifying and destructive asking us to completely shatter and strip away all that we have ever known, like Kali and Hecate. But above all, She is unapologetically Herself.
As women choosing to awaken through the messy journey of humanity, not by ascending on a mountaintop or hiding away in a cave, but by living our multifaceted lives, in the soil and through the roots of our relationships, desires, passions, bodies, and mundane daily activities, embracing the Goddess within us and how She dances in our lives is the key to our happiness, fulfillment, and SANITY.
Our pleasure, our joy, and our creativity depends on embracing the wild within and all around us, and remembering the endlessly forgiving beauty of Nature. This is Her. This is you.
