11 Embodiment Practices to re-Awaken the Oracle in Your Womb
If you had once told me I’d be guiding women on vision quests deep into the Oracle within their womb spaces…
That I’d separate from the world to merge with the Divine Feminine during menstruation, and that I’d know through the flow of energy in my pelvis what I want, what I need, and how to create…
I wouldn’t have understood the language you were speaking.
But eventually, through daily panic attacks, overwhelming trauma processing, the dissolution of my life as I had known it, and perhaps at the deepest level a profound knowing that there was an unfathomable well of beauty, magic, and power somewhere buried and waiting for me, I came home to my womb again.
When I say I “came home” I mean…
Merged with the essence of my soul in my female body. Remembered Goddess in my sexuality. Learned how to hear and understand her wisdom and messages in my yoni. Opened the channel to the creative source in my pelvis. Felt my full range of womb sensations turn on and come alive again. Heightened my seventh sense for the all pervasive presence of the Divine in my root space.
And it took time.
A lot of time.
Years of devotional practice.
A lot of sitting around doing nothing.
A lot of listening.
A lot of grieving.
A lot of trauma processing.
A lot of coming to terms with why I had been so disconnected in the first place.
A lot of self forgiveness in the aftermath of self betrayal (and humble realization that I would absolutely betray myself at various times in the future again.)
Yet…
I’ve come to find in the depths of my own body soul knowing, in my womb wisdom voice remembrance, that once the pathway is recreated, we can always find our way home again.
And just like any practice worth doing, listening to the Oracle in your female body is a devotional journey of a lifetime. A never-ending spiral of self discovery. One each and every one of us are absolutely worthy of traversing… over and over and over and over again.
It took me many days and nights of sitting with nothing before I rebuilt my own many thousand year forgotten pathways, but these days disconnection is my alarm bell instead of my normal.
It shows me when I’ve drifted too far from the truth of myself. It’s my confronting barometer when I’ve leaned too much into compromise or even fallen into self betrayal.
My womb is now my compass.
My creative source.
My sanctuary.
My home.
Women in our community often express a deep longing to come into greater intimacy with their own wombspaces, to awaken their own inner Oracle… to remember the voice of Feminine Power that has always sung from deep within them, but that may have been buried deep across their ancestry or a multitude of lifetimes.
And to be intimate with that voice not just spiritually.
But viscerally.
Sensually.
Somatically.
So in this article I’m sharing 11 practices (all of which have profoundly rooted me back into the Feminine in my own wombspace) for establishing, deepening, and remembering your own womb connection, to hear and receive your Oracle again…
I saved what I feel is the most powerful and vital of all… almost for last. So make sure to read all the way to number 10.
First, a few important notes:
If you no longer have a physical womb in your body, you can still connect with the womb energy in your pelvis, and the Great Mother Source here in your center. Rather than focus on the physical anatomy, in this case connect to the feeling sense of your womb center, womb energy, and creative space. This power never leaves you.)
This article is written for personal education and exploration purposes only, and is not a replacement for medical or psychological care or treatment. Please treat womb health conditions and psychological trauma with serious discernment and seek out aligned integrative medical or psychological support when needed.)
Most importantly, your direct personal experience overrides anything I share here. These are musings based on my own experiences and working intimately with women for over a decade. Always trust your own embodied reality above what I share.)
Womb Practice #1
Give Her Daily Presence & Attention
There’s no skipping this part. Like every relationship of true depth and meaning, coming into intimacy with the power in your womb requires ongoing continual devotional presence and attention. The more you honor her, listen to her, tend to her, and receive her, the more her voice will return to you again.
But there is a really simple way to begin, and to continue, and to return again, to keep the connection open, and that’s a practice I call:
Womb Communion Daily Ritual
In this practice the ritual is deceptively simple. The key truly is in your depth of presence. I find it most supportive to do it in the evening while laying in bed, however you can do it in the morning when you wake up or anytime it calls to you. Consistency helps, and even just a few minutes each day can have a profound effect.
Here’s how to do it:
Lay down and close your eyes. Take a moment to connect with your body. Feel the softness of the bed against your back, your legs, your pelvis. Take a deep breath. On the exhale surrender your body into the weight that’s holding you. Bring your hands to rest on your body, on your belly or perhaps your heart.
Check in to see how you’re feeling. Physically. Emotionally. Spiritually. Sense if there’s an intention you have for your Womb Communion today. It could be a word, a feeling, or even a question.
When you’re ready, softly bring your hands to rest on your womb space, with your thumbs and pointer fingers touching, creating a downward triangle over your uterus. With breath and presence, send your full awareness down into the center of this triangle, into the space of your womb.
Sense a dark fertile garden of love enveloping you in presence here. As you send awareness to your womb, see if you feel sensations here. Stay very present with yourself and the process.
Feel. Listen. Be present. Stay open to encounter. Rather than make something happen, let something happen to you.
Initially you may feel nothing. Stay with the practice and process as the foundation for deeper womb connection to come. Summoning the Feminine can often be an experience of waiting until she arises in her own timeline. Patience and presence are paramount here.
Womb Practice #2
Let Her Voice Speak Even When You Don’t Like It
When your womb voice does finally begin to come online again, she may have a lot to say. She may have a lot to say that is very very uncomfortable to be with. She may surface old memories. Show you what is no longer working. Tell you what’s out of alignment with who, at the deepest level, you really are.
Try to be with whatever arises without needing to immediately do something about it or act on it. Rather, stay available with curiosity. Listen. Allow her process.
Do your best to not fixate or try to fix anything. Just be with what is arising.
Sometimes, lifetimes of old memories, emotional material, or even trauma processing can be surfacing and just need time to be held in love until the waters become clear. Sometimes, it’s also important and necessary to receive wise professional support through a practitioner or therapist with the skills and capacity to support the immensity of what’s unraveling.
When seeking support, look to female practitioners who are either holistic trauma therapists and counselors or integrative body workers who are deeply grounded, professionally qualified, tremendously compassionate and non-judgmental and have direct experience in womb work modalities such as Holistic Pelvic Care and/or feminine embodiment modalities in combination with psycho-spiritual skills and are adept and qualified to work with trauma in tandem with the Feminine.
Womb Practice #3
Listen to Your Grief & Rage as the Oracle
When I began hearing my own womb voice again, it shocked me how much grief and rage she was holding.
At times I felt I was crying an ocean of tears that were never-ending. But the more closely I accessed my grief and rage, the more my joy became authentic. Tears of not only despair but also awe, beauty, and magic became naturally available.
Eventually, I cried not only from heartbreak, I cried from love and a deep abiding surrender to the mystery of life as my womb opened me wider and wider to that level of pure vulnerability. Rage kept me honest, honest with myself and (even when uncomfortable) with others. Grief and rage kept me from overriding myself.
As the sacred holder of life, the power of the womb is designed to uphold what gives life. And what gives life is the pure, unadulterated truth that emerges in every moment as the reality of existence.
When that natural flow has been suppressed for (potentially) thousands of years and countless generations, forced to override its own natural instincts, it makes sense that when your womb begins speaking at first… her voice can be intense, shadowy, and even violent.
Again, this is where skillful, wise, professional support can be paramount to minimize any level of harm towards oneself, others, or the life you’ve created.
The practice here is to walk the edge of listening, feeling, and receiving, and widening the river banks of your capacity for Feminine life force energy, so she can flow naturally, freely, joyfully, and healthfully again. So you can feel safe to open wider to more of your whole true self in this lifetime again.
Womb Practice #4
Get Familiar With Yes & No in Your Body
A lot of the grief and rage I met personally, and the grief and rage I often hear women express when it comes to their own womb reawakening, is connected to boundary violations.
Perhaps instances when our boundaries were directly crossed by another person (and most if not all women have at least inherited various forms of sexual womb violations in this lifetime and others). But also, and more subtly, when our boundaries were crossed because…
We didn’t know what our boundaries even were
We didn’t think it was valid to feel the way that we did
We didn’t know how to give voice to what we were feeling
And this is why for many of us the deepest womb grief and rage we will touch is actually rooted in… self betrayal.
But self betrayal can be a really really heavy term. It can carry with it a weight of responsibility that somehow we should have known better and we deliberately harmed ourselves.
The truth is, most of the time self betrayal is when our survival instincts cause us to make a choice that creates an injury with the deeper soul self, even if it was the best option we felt we had at the time.
So self betrayal can be complex, nuanced, and in times actually helped us (and certainly our ancestors) still be alive today. In somatic language, self betrayal comes from the “fawn” response in the social branch of the nervous system, a survival strategy when under actual or perceived threat that the body believes in that moment necessitates it.
I believe a fundamental and incredibly powerful way that as women we can begin to shift out of perpetual fawning and move towards radical embodied authenticity, is through repairing a clear somatic knowing of YES and NO in our bodies, specifically in our womb spaces. Further, to hear the voice of your womb, the Oracle in your womb, you need to hear her voice in its most raw pure primal state… womb YES and womb NO.
Womb Yes & No Practice
For this practice, I recommend first setting a timer for 5 minutes, and with breath and awareness in your womb space voice aloud NO. Again and again voice “NO, NO, NO” from deep in your womb. Repeat the practice for 5 minutes, with breath and awareness in your womb space as you voice aloud YES. Again and again voice “YES, YES, YES” from deep in your womb. Just sit with the sensations beyond stories. This starts to wake up the energy again.
Then, as you move through your day, when it comes first to simple choices, like what to eat or wear, check in with your womb. Is this a yes or a no? Expand it into your body in your personal self pleasure practice. Is the way you’re touching yourself a habituated response or is it a true womb yessssss in service of your deepest Feminine pleasure? Start to listen and explore with more complex choices… relationships, connections, work choices, how you express yourself, how you work with your power, etc.
The more you ask and listen, the more you can refine your connection.
Is it a womb YES?
Or is it a womb NO?

Womb Practice #5
Ask Her Questions & Listen for Sensations
As an expansion of receiving your womb yes and womb no, begin to discern her language of sensations. Do you notice particular sensations or body patterns in your ovaries, yoni, pelvic floor, uterus, pelvis, when participating in certain activities, having certain thoughts, or engaging in specific connections?
The truth is, the womb is communicating with us all of the time. But if we’ve learned to continually ignore, numb, shame, avoid, and override her, that voice can go dormant. All of our practices so far have been designed to open the doorways to hearing her voice again, by giving her more space to be authentically expressive.
Let’s go even deeper now, and listen to the pure language of feeling, through warmth, heat, coldness, tingles, numbness, vacancy, pleasure, energy, swirling, colors, light, ways beyond words or emotions that your womb expresses her needs, wants, desires, and current state.
One practice to open further into this awareness is by asking your womb questions and noticing what you feel in your body. Before listening for answers, listen for sensation. Listen for, witness, and track the movement of energy in your body.
If you already have a strong body awareness and energy work practice, this may be very easy for you to access, but if energy sensations are new for you to notice, it can take continual practice and awareness. Start simple and small, even by noticing… do you feel any sensation or not? Does something shift with one choice, one option, one question, one thought or another?
If you do have a strong sense of energy movement in your body, track the movements, sensations, and colors. Ask yourself for guidance, and again, before listening for words or images, feel and watch the energy patterns. How does your energy move in response?
How does your womb communicate with you beyond words?
What is her language of sensations?
Womb Practice #6
Massage Your Womb for Somatic Feedback
Your womb speaks to you not only through emotions, sensations, colors, energy, and feelings, she also speaks directly in the tissues. And especially she speaks through tension patterns, tightness, numbness, and pain or through suppleness, aliveness, vitality, and pleasure.
If you don’t already have one, a regular internal vaginal and womb massage practice is one of the most beautiful, intimate, and supportive ways to connect with your femininity and earn her trust to share more of her magic with you again.
For self pelvic massage and listening to your womb tissues as the Oracle, I recommend reading one of my personal bibles Wild Feminine by Tami Lynn Kent of Holistic Pelvic Care, filled with profoundly transformational self touch practices to move energy in your female body and listen to the voices inside of your tissues.
As a simple way to begin, once a week or as often as you can, when you come out of the shower as part of an evening or bedtime ritual, massage your entire body with coconut oil.
Rest your hands on your womb in your Womb Communion Ritual (shared above in #1). Ask your womb permission to touch her through the gateway of your yoni. Insert your coconut oil covered fingers into your yoni (vagina) and gently feel the shape of your pelvic bones here. Notice heat, warmth, coldness, numbness, pain, tightness, pleasure, or other sensations in the tissues.
With breath and deep loving presence, gently massage the walls of your yoni with slow circles, and all along the pelvic floor, and into the pelvic bones from the inside. If you notice tension or trigger points, breathe into these places, send warmth, send love, send presence. As you massage through your yoni, breathe life and vitality here into your center. Imagine yourself smoothing any spaces or areas that may feel frayed or knotted, bringing balance into your whole pelvis again.
If it resonates with you and you’re not pregnant or menstruating, you could also finish the practice with a yoni steam for a deeper release.
I share more in my free guided self touch journey Body Worship, which includes a 60 minute audio practice for self love self massage, a sacred pleasure playlist and a full in depth sacred sexual anatomy pdf guide. Receive the free journey here.
Womb Practice #7
Look to Your Blood for Divination
If you’re a woman who menstruates, one of the greatest places to look for divination is in your own menstrual blood. Consider it like scrying, looking deep into dark waters, or reading seashells or bones for prophecy, like many of our ancestors once did.
Only here, you are looking directly into the mirror of the emotional, sexual, physical, and soulful health of your womb space through the release of your menstrual blood. Your blood is showing you insight into your physical health, hormones, and thus emotional health and overall well being with clues for what your Feminine needs to feel nourished and well.
To be able to see your blood, it’s helpful to use white reusable organic bamboo cotton menstrual cloths for your entire bleed, so you can see and track the amount of blood, the color of the blood, the viscosity of the blood, and any clotting in your blood.
Do you have clotting? Is your flow light, heavy, red, brown? Did she come late, early, regularly, irregularly? Are you with the new, waxing, full, waning moon?
Also take note of your overall state. Do you have menstrual cramps? Skin breakouts? Food cravings? Intense emotions? Breast tenderness? Poor sleep quality?
For support in discerning the messages of your blood and receiving support for any challenging symptoms or imbalances, it can be helpful to work directly with a holistic hormonal health practitioner such as an acupuncturist, TCM doctor, or Ayurvedic doctor as well as exploring Functional Medicine lab testing for concrete data to understand what may be happening with your hormones and overall state of health.
Womb Practice #8
Keep a Moon Dial
Just like the waxing waning moon and the seasoning Earth, your womb moves through rhythmic cycles with different archetypal tones and nuances throughout your menstruating years. Your womb is continually communicating different aspects of your nature through the various inner seasonal changes happening inside of you every cycle.
Miranda Gray popularized and revolutionized this inner seasonal womb wisdom through her opus Red Moon, which includes the practice of the “Moon Dial” for tracking your inner emotional, mental, spiritual, physical, and archetypal self within the seasons of menstruation, pre-ovluation (follicular), ovulation, and pre-menstrual (luteal).
One of the greatest powers of the Moon Dial is that it shows you patterns over time. You begin to notice that certain thoughts, desires, frustrations, fears, emotions, challenges, visions, and dreams emerge again and again and again at various times in the cycle.
Getting to know the flavor tones of the inner seasons of your womb cycle gives you deep profound insight into how to transform challenges into power and actualize dreams through the sustainable rhythms of your female body.
To start a Moon Dial you can create a wheel with 26-30 days (depending on the length of your cycle) or write a journal entry each day of your cycle. Include the day of your cycle, the phase of the moon, and the date.
Then note down any physical sensations or symptoms, quality of your sleep, quality of your energy, any illness or pain, whether or not you exercised, quality of your bowel movements, notice your digestion, food cravings, quality of your sexual energy, any changes in your skin, and anything else worth noting.
Track your emotional state or symptoms, if you felt joy, sadness, grief, anxiety, anger, frustration, fear, nervousness, self criticism, excitement, inspiration, romance, positivity, encouragement, playfulness, intuition, sensitivity, neediness, aloofness, etc.
Then explore your spiritual state, whether feeling connected, disconnected, internal or external, visions or messages, and write down your dreams.
Over time, start to notice themes that repeat again and again at various times in the cycle. Notice if certain emotions, cravings, impulses, desires, or dreams come to you and ask your womb for guidance around what these patterns are here to show you.
If you no longer menstruate or do not currently menstruate, you can still work with this practice through the relationship between your womb and the moon cycle, by following the phases of the moon instead of your menstrual cycle.

Follow the Map of Your Inner Seasons
Red School founders Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer expanded on the work of Miranda Gray through their Menstrual Cycle Awareness modality, fine tuning the subtle psychological shifts that happen within the inner seasons of the menstrual cycle.
They also built an incredibly potent framework for how to align with the powers inherent within each season, to actualize more of your own power within it. To not only track what’s happening, but to listen for what the greater invitation beneath it, and to work with the seasonal power inside of your body, to become even more of yourself in the process.
Following the map of your inner seasons reveals where you may be impacted by shadow and wound patterns of that particular season, and also where your greatest gifts of that season already live inside of you.
To go deeper I recommend their book Wild Power for women who menstruate and Wise Power for women in Perimenopause, Menopause, or Post Menopause.
Here’s a taste to explore deeper…
Seek rest and hibernate during menstruation, your inner winter. Come all the way home to your body and your source. Quiet all outside noise. Be present with the void. Stay as much as you can in the unknown. Allow your body and soul to process and shed. Be with what’s here. Stay open. Without forcing it, allow yourself to encounter the power of Truth, Creation, and Love inside of you. Let yourself receive the message of your inner Oracle.
Slowly titrate your way out into the follicular phase, your inner spring. Play with the visions and ideas that came to you in your menstrual rebirth. Be willing to experiment without stakes or expectations. Hold yourself with strong inner mothering to protect yourself from inner and outer criticism. Practice holding your energy to not spend it all at once.
Let go and open wide at ovulation, your inner summer. Release and unleash your visions out into the world. Ride the waves of your womb YES. Dare to be seen. Dare to receive. Practice being seen as who you really are, the full expression of your inner Oracle, rather than contort yourself into what will be well received by the world.
Reign it in and hold your power at the luteal phase, your inner autumn. Call all of yourself back to yourself. Strip back what’s not essential. Tie up loose ends. Claim the right of your womb NO. Face your inner critic and receive her constructive feedback. Celebrate what went well and consider what to improve. Slow down and follow the pace of your body moving back towards the menstrual temple.
Again, you can go much deeper in Alexandra & Sjanie’s work at Red School and in their book Wild Power.
Womb Practice #10
Separate From the World for Menstruation
This is a bold statement, but I’ve come to believe that the most potent spiritual practice in existence is pure rest, separation, and inward womb communion while bleeding. I believe it’s the basis and secret to the power behind Vipassana and Dark Room meditation, and how monks and sages became “enlightened.” I believe all spiritual practices of rebirth for the actualization of the Divine within oneself, are rooted in the power of conscious menstruation.
I believe that, because it’s been my own experience as a devoted full-time spiritual practitioner and facilitator of countless mystical and embodied modalities for the past 13 years, who has found a kind of truth, depth, and sustainability that roots to the deepest of the deep in my own body, through regular separation and rest at menstruation, beyond what I ever found anywhere else. Further, it’s pure. It’s direct access. It’s beyond the limitations of anyone else’s creation.
When in 2018 I experienced my own flavor of womb enlightenment through many intense spiritual practices, a highly traumatic event that blasted me through the veils, and extended water fasting in long periods of isolation and meditation, it was coming home to my cycle and to my blood that helped me actually integrate that immensity of rebirth into the greater fabric of my life, in a way I could not only come home to again and again, but that I could make practical use of as I engaged with the world.
In my experience, menstruation returns us back to the Source. It brings us into the sanctum of the holiest of holies. It calls us all the way inward to the void from where we were created. It dissolves all that is not that, and actually physically rebirths us through the portal of That.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that menstruation is the most powerful gateway to Goddess in the female body and simultaneously the most shamed region of the Feminine made dirty, sinful, and unholy among our patriarchal religions. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that menstruating women are forbidden from entering temples. I think it was a direct and divisive patriarchal narrative wielded for thousands of years to keep women disconnected from their power as creators.
One of the most direct ways to receive the voice of the inner Oracle and to radically dismantle systems that have intentionally gatekept Feminine power for countless generations, is (in my opinion) to create a sanctuary of full total menstrual retreat for yourself at least once in this lifetime (ideally every month).
A space of pure rest and respite for you away from the outside world, ideally in nature or in a home alone that you love. Without the stimulus of the outside world, without technology, where you can hear the voice of your womb Oracle speak clearly from right here in your female body.

Share Your Womb Visions With Trusted Sisters
If your blood is one red thread, she weaves deep into the whole tapestry of creation. All of our rivers bleed together into one red sea. In matriarchal cultures all over the world women bled in community and on behalf of the community.
One of the most powerful ways to affirm, trust, and anchor the visions you receive through your own womb practices, is to share your Oracle with wider circles of women where you can be received and heard.
Share your visions with women you trust, in safe sisterhood spaces of belonging, and then explore how you might share those visions out into the world.
At times it is through being seen and recognized by another that we can truly integrate our discoveries in the vision quest, and continually trust our womb voice for more.
It’s my hope that our online and in person women’s immersions and free community gatherings at Earth Daughters offer you that kind of belonging. To trust the Oracle in your womb that belongs to you and only you.
